Amazing, but...
This is pretty amazing, but for two caveats:1) Don't suck up bits of trash - a square of paper towel or a plastic bag will get caught in the vortex and require disassembly and extraction.2) Don't use those cheap orange buckets sold by a large home improvement store - if you block the hose, even briefly, the suction from a moderate shop vac will collapse those cheap buckets. Even though the orange with the new Pro model looks nice on an orange bucket, it's not going to work well for very long. (this isn't the fault of the Dustopper Pro, it works great with a standard, well-built white 5 gallon bucket.Other than those two caveats, for the intended use - separating out sawdust from work tools - this does exactly what it claims with only the very finest of dust particles continuing on to the shop vac. It's kind of like magic, actually, or some fancy parlor trick - I've sucked up six or seven gallons of shavings and finer sawdust and the inside of the shop vac looks nearly spotless.

Works really well with the Right Bucket
I was upset at first because my orange Home Depot bucketcollapsed under my shop vac's suction pressure. After doing some online research, I found out that my orange Home Depotbucket was only 70 mil thick. The thickest and cheapest 5 gallon bucket I could findwas a white Basco 100 mil bucket that cost $14.15 plus about $5.00 for shipping.Once I received the 100 mil bucket, I placed the Dustopper on it and put it to test.It did not collapse after I covered the suction hose with my hand while the vacuumwas running. The same test with the orange Home Depot bucket resulted in immediate collapse.A 100 mil bucket is the way to go if you have a shop vac that is powerfulenough to collapse a less thick bucket (My shop vac is a 10 gallon vacuum with 6 peak horse power).Buying a 100 mil bucket up front will save you a lot of time and grief.

Works well with small complaints
This works great on both dust and water separation. My gasket is already falling out, the adhesive is failing and the hose fittings are just interference type and have no positive lock. When assembled to a bucket and hose it’s top heavy and wants to fall over. It really needs to be secured to a weighted base. You can get around these things and the performance is good.

Works well, if you pay attention to the instructions…
I recently bought a shopvac 5 gallon lid separator and it really wasn’t great. So I decided to try this one using the same buckets. Since my 6 hp shop vac burned out on just two boards using the first lid, I bought a new 5.5hp DeWalt and set everything up with the new Duststopper PRO cyclonic separator lid. First use, the lid blew off and dust went everywhere. Second time, it worked, but there was a leak and lots of chips escaped. So I did the unthinkable - I read the instructions. Turns out, the gasket has to be installed in a particular orientation, i.e. flat side up. Once everything was cleaned up and the gasket reinstalled, it worked just fine. Much better than the first brand I tried. Notice the clean vac filter and bucket- the separator captured everything. I cut all of my hose runs to five feet or less. The difference was noticeable.Just know that if you’re planing or jointing, your five gallon bucket will fill up after just a few passes of a 6”x6’ board, even 1/32” passes. But if that bothers you, try planing without it. So, for those of us that have lots of dust producing tools, but are just shy of the $2k+ needed for a proper dust collection system, this little gadget works fine on a 5.5hp vacuum.

Great addition
Great product. Easy to assemble and use. Really helps reduce plaster dust from clogging the filter. When cleaning up dust and other debris from our recent renovation this was a game changer. It significantly reduced the wear and tear on the shop vac's filter and still captured all the debris.

Easily One of My Favorite Purchases
This dust (water, dirt, etc.) collector does exactly what it says, making it worth every dollar. I use the product for sanding drywall, which is does a fantastic job collecting. The collector easily fits on 5 gallon buckets (sold separately) and contains enough hose to connect your shop vac to the collector and collection bucket. The product is straight-forward to use and light to move around.Using this product has one inconvenience - you'll need to move your shop vac and the collection bucket as you work. However, the hassle is worth it due to its effectiveness.

Works great if your vacuum is powerful enough!
Just wanted a basic, smaller dust collector, this unit seemed to fit the bill. Set it up with my existing wall mount Shop Vac 4.5 Peak HP. had plenty of wood chips, shaving and dust to give it a good try. found it only stopped about 50% of the dust and chips. So, I rechecked the manufacture requirements, 2 possible causes for poor performance: Duststopper says vacuum should be at least a 5HP. (running or peak, they don't say) and beware of using a long hose (they don't spell out what's long). After searching I Ordered a Vacmaster Pro "BEAST" 5.5 peak HP. 5 Gal. ($84.89, a smaller unit to fit in the space available). I was amazed how powerful the unit is and set it with the Duststopper (yes, the Duststopper hose and elbows fit the Vacmaster), gave it a good test. Well, the Beast solved the problem, entirely. Almost nothing in the vacuum and all the dust and chips in the Duststopper bucket (as advertised) and I still used a 30' hose. I am well pleased! Now, not only do I have a compact and effective dust collection system, but I have a new, very powerful mobile garage vacuum that works great (very reasonable priced, I highly recommend The Beast if you need a vac). The only issue with the Duststopper is the darn gasket keeps falling out of the groove when I remove it from the bucket, not a biggie, just an irritant. But the Duststopper unit works great!
