This is Dot hack Roots the anime! not Roots from the 70s! lol
I have no idea how roots from the 1970s ended up in the reviews but this is most certainly not it. Its the anime Dot hack Roots!!! The dvds work perfect for me and it seems to be American made by funimation so idk why the seller is using that playback region 2 lock thing. It plays fine on my PS4. I’m so glad I get to watch this! Last time I did it was like the 2010s and I’d stay up till like 3am to watch it on Cartoon Network because of they’re horrible scheduling. Then they stopped showing it! So I never saw the ending! Lol. I’m also playing the video game dot hack GU because the story goes in tandem with this one. Its a pretty good show I really love the art direction in it! Its so vibrant and lovely! The World, (the online video game in the anime) has never looked so good! The story lags a little but I love most of the characters. The funny thing is that Haseo, the “main character”, is so unlikeable!! He’s mean to everyone! I get why he’s pissed, it’s because someone dear was taken from him, But it just gets old after a minute. So yeah its a really good obscure anime and not Roots from the 70s can’t stress that enough lol. Hope whoever picks up a copy can enjoy with peace of mind that this is legit dot hack roots and at an amazing price as well I might add!

Everyone should watch this
I rewatched the 1977 version first , then watched this 2016 version. Both were excellent in their own way .( I saw LeVar Burton in a quick cameo in this new version. ) I’m glad I bought this . Cried a lot throughout . But hearing the N word hundreds and hundreds of times by watching both series back to back , was just TOO much . I had not heard that word since I left New Orleans in 1993 .Hope I never hear that word again . It’s like it dirtied up my brain .

Outstanding Remake!
It was a very succinct Original Roots. Alex Haley would have been proud. The new protagonists were more realistic and extremely aesthetic in their deep melanin appearance. I enjoyed the idioms and colorful metaphors of Kizzy, Matilda and her children. One was you treat money is a butterfly to you, it comes pretty and fly's away quickly - and they eat the bread like a plague of locusts, how refreshing and cute!I loved this version with its concise presentation, I watched it repeatedly! The only thing that was hard to swallow was the sexually violent scenes, but they did preface the warning in the beginning.

Awesome!
The first is scratched, but luckily it still played with out any interruptions. I love it. I have never seen the original, but the other reviews on Amazon said that this one was better than the original because it was able to be more descriptive about the experience back then. A great purchase. No regrets.

Well Done History & A&E Channels
This presentation records the dignity of simple, loving African life and family, before greed and poverty ravaged so much of the continent. The fact that world history has always included some amount of slavery is also mentioned. The indignation of the American and European slave trade, treatment and practice gives the decendants on both sides of the issue cause for pause and meditation. Well done History Channel... WELL DONE.BTW: If the DVDs arrive damaged, replacement is in order... not a negative review.

Love!
I like this "reimagining" of Roots. It doesn't replace the iconic original Roots, but I wanted it for my collection. I enjoy looking at it for the historical additions that to me, enrich the story. I believe the viewer is able to learn more about Jufureh (that it was more of a city than originally depicted). I like this "Kunta Kinte" I loved John Amos' "Kunta" as well. I loved the way that this version showed how things passed down from the African culture and in some cases, assimilated into American culture. I think it's worth owning.

Roots remake for today's audience
A very good retelling of the tale I watchereligiously in the 70s , with Malichi Kirkby, (who has just received a best supporting actor BAFTA for Snalk Axe ) outstanding in the challenge going role of Kunta Kinte, an African snatched from his homeland and propelled into a life of slavery in the Southern States of America

Antes de SAO fue hack.
Anime de la saga hack genial muy buena historia, antes de que saliera la serie SAO la saga hack fue de las primeras que metían a los personajes del mundo real a los videojuegos.
