Love Your Life: A Novel

Loved the heroine and the storyline. Sophie Kinsella novels are always a great fun read. I would recommend this book.

As I said above … good, not quite great. Quick vacation read with reality and feel good aspects. Give it a shot!

Let me start by saying I'm a massive Kinsella fan. I love the "heart" her heroines all have, and have enjoyed just about every book.This one did not live up to my expectations. It seemed to cram EVERY possible Kinsella element (dating problems, deluding yourself, family business, rich mean parents, silly encounters, quirky EVERYONE) in as fast as possible, whether or not they made sense or were carried through to conclusion.This one also required a more-than-usual suspension of disbelief:*How does Ava afford her own place (even if it's a slum) when she appears never to work and at best is a freelance writer?*Why do Matt and his 2 roomies live together when all 3 of them appear to have HUGELY SUCCESSFUL jobs?*Matt seemed to veer from intelligent/sensitive to kind of an inarticulate blockhead.Matt's mean parents and his ex-girlfriend seemed to be put in almost as "expected" elements of a Kinsella novel rather than for a meaningful plot point. Ditto with Ava being essentially an orphan.For much of the novel, Ava was so maddening I wanted Matt to just run and not look back! I would much prefer hanging out with Matt and his roomies to being at Ava's house.I love seeing a new Kinsella novel, but I hope she's not feeling pressured and rushed - which seems possible - to keep churning them out.Frankly, my favorite part of this book was Matt's roommates. They felt totally "real" in a way Ava's friends never did and I enjoyed seeing the relationships with them blossom. The end of this book wrapped up with her usual heart and the message about the importance of friends. But I feel that removing some of the extraneous plot points could have allowed for even more focus on this.

This book was charming, heartfelt, warm and fuzzy, brave, strong, and all other good things in one! I loved every moment of this adorable romcom. It was completely unique and had such great characters! I loved all the characters and their differences, their strengths, and even their weaknesses. The writing was incredible- warm and light-hearted when it should be, and tones of seriousness at appropriate times as well. You could feel when Ava and "Dutch" ran into tiny disagreements and slowly feel the build of their relationship throughout. Harold was a monster but a loveable one! I'm a librarian who works in a public library and overall, I loved it so much I bought it. I will be reading this story again. Thank you for your incredible story telling skills, Sophie Kinsella!

Love Your Life or Ava-Land and Matt-Land was quite an entertaining and sweet novel. The end of the book left me with a big smile on my face.Yet, the beginning of the book didn’t do it for me. I thought "oh no, this is an insta-love story" which is my least favorite. How wrong was I? Very. I ended up liking it quite a bit more than I thought.Most surprisingly was that I liked all the main character's friends too. There is Nell who has some serious health issues but she doesn't play the martyr and she can be brutally honest. Sarika who only wants to date someone who lives close to her home (Too far away it's a deal-breaker). She’s using a dating app's algorithm to narrow the perfect guy for her. Then there's Maud who is impossible to say no to. When she asks you for a favor, you don't even realize you're agreeing to do it. To avoid saying yes, it's best not to engage her.On Matt's side, his friends and flatmates, Topher and Nihal were both amusing and in their own way, supportive of Ava. They were both good guys, Topher despite his antisocial personality and Nihal with his multiple robots.Now, getting back to the main characters, the book begins with Ava. She likes to start multiple things at the same time but doesn't really finish any of them. Her new thing is she wants to write a book. She wants to write a historical romance novel and for this reason, she joins a writer's retreat in Italy. There she meets "Dutch" who's real name is Matt. Dutch was joining a martial arts retreat but after it gets canceled, he ends up in the writing one. Ava and Matt have a spark and soon they become an item. By the time a real name is needed, they discover they both live in London.London changes everything for this couple. Going back to the real world reveals their huge differences. They don't seem to agree on anything including food (Ava is a vegetarian, Matt's a carnivore). There is also Ava's dog, Harold, who can destroy a shirt in ten seconds or disappear any good steak in a millisecond.For me, the last third of the book is where the story shines. I liked the way Sophie Kinsella's characters in this Chic-Lit/RomCom novel resolved their issues in a full circle kinda away.4/5 FangsCliffhanger: No

Historia muy entretenida

This book was okay. Not as good as the Shopaholic series.

It's no secret that Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorite writers. I can always count on her to make me laugh while still pushing me to think of common--and not so common--problems of our lives, especially when it comes to relationships. This book was a delight with her usual imperfect but lovable characters always a bit clueless but full of good intentions. It was just what the doctor ordered for this gloomy time we're living in. Great inner dialogue as always and the dog! OMG, Harold was a character indeed. Great story, great characters. Thank you, Ms. Kinsella.

Sophie kinesella is one of my favourite authors and she's done it again in this book. Funny and great characters!

LOVE YOUR LIFE - is the kind of novel which can be easily related to our daily life. We humans have the ability to adapt to various changes, and learn to love the acclimatized variation wholeheartedly.In this novel, the author has beautifully sculptured the acceptance of love when you and your partner have varied likes and dislikes.Ava and Matt, having met through totally different circumstances, both living in a dimension where a total 360 turn is being taken from their current life. They both thought that they matched too well in the beginning, but when they spent a lot of time together, they got to know, it's not an easy task to maintain a relationship. They were opposites in every respect ! The bubble in which they were staying in Italy (I won't go though extreme depths of the story, it's for you all to find out what and how it happened), is totally different from their real life. At the end, they had to learn to love each other's life too, if they want to spent their lifetime together.Last but not the least, I would like to say that, I totally loved this novel, combined with finding love and accepting love, written in a well versed manner. The rom-com is full of witty comments between the characters, and should be given a read !RECOMMENDED NOVEL, I PROMISE YOU WON'T REGRET IT !!!
