Quality
I remember hearing about "Roots" as I was growing up in the 1970's. I must have been about 12 years old. It was a big thing but I never saw all the episodes. It ran for a few days. Thank You Amazon for having it and being able to ship it immediately.I was able to finally see it. I am a school teacher and it would be great for our students to learn the history of it.

All seven dvds in the set were defective.
The story of "Roots" is classic. On each of the seven dvds the story came to an abrupt halt muliple times. It was annoying, but I was able to press the "skip" button on the remote control and the story would continue with very little omitted.

Must have Historical movie
This is one movie I feel all should watch, lest we forget American history. Now, with some people trying to erase the truth, it is more important than ever to learn what people went through. Things that never should have happened and hopefully will never be repeated.

'A Brilliant Miniseries About Slavery/Discovering One's Roots!'
The miniseries is brilliant with great acting by a great cast! Of course I cried when Kunta Kinte was captured by the slave owners and brought to America along with other Africans; I haven't seen the miniseries since I was a child and my mother made me watch 'ROOTS' which was very controversial in 1977. Actors LeVar Burton, John Amos, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Ed Asner were absolutely outstanding as Kunta Kinte, Fiddler and Captain Davies, respectively; actresses Olivia Cole, Madge Sinclair, Cicely Tyson and Maya Angelou were also outstanding in their respective roles. I loved the ending when the slaves were free and they all settled in the state of Tennessee; I also liked the making/behind the scenes of 'ROOTS' as well as author Alex Haley discussing his roots by listening to his ancestors talking about the history of slavery and where they came from. As a Jamaican woman I, too, would like to know my roots: perhaps I am a descendant of Africa? REST IN POWER to the following actors and actresses: author Alexander Murray Palmer Haley (August 11, 1921-February 10, 1992); Dr. Maya Angelou (nee Margeurite Annie Johnson) (April 4, 1928-May 28, 2014); Mr. Edward Asner (November 15, 1929-August 29, 2021); Mr. Lloyd Vernet Bridges, Jr. (January 15, 1913-March 10, 1998); Mr. Edward Macdonald Carey (March 15, 1913-March 21, 1994); Ms. Olivia Carlena Cole (November 26, 1942-January 19, 2018); Mr. Gary Ennis Collins (April 30, 1938-October 13, 2012); Mr. Kevin Joseph Aloysius 'Chuck' Connors (April 10, 1921-November 10, 1992); Mr. Scatman Crothers (ne Benjamin Sherman Crothers) (May 23, 1910-November 22, 1986); Mr. Ji-Tu Cumbuka (March 4, 1940-July 4, 2017); Mr. Brad Davis (ne Robert Creel Davis) (November 6, 1949-September 8, 1991); Mr. Lorne Hyman Greene (OC) (February 12, 1915-September 11, 1987); Mr. Moses Gunn (October 2, 1929-December 16, 1993); Mr. Burl Icle Ivanhoe Ives (June 14, 1909-April 14, 1995); Ms. Carolyn Sue Jones (April 28, 1930-August 3, 1983); Mr. Douglas Osborne McClure (May 11, 1935-February 5, 1995); Mr. Victor Morrow (February 14, 1929-July 23, 1982); Mr. Thalmus Rasulala (ne Jack Crowder) (November 15, 1939-October 9, 1991); Mr. Robert Reed (ne John Robert Rietz, Jr.) (October 19, 1932-May 12, 1992); Mr. Harry Rhodes (April 10, 1932-January 15, 1992); Mr. Raymond St. Jacques (March 1, 1930-August 27, 1990); Ms. Madge Dorita Walters Sinclair (April 28, 1938-December 20, 1995); Ms. Cicely Louise Tyson (December 18, 1924-January 28, 2021); Mr. Ralph Waite (June 22, 1928-February 13, 2014); Ms. Lillian Randolph (nee Castello Randolph) (December 14, 1898 (1914?) INCONTOURNABLE
